U.S. Department of Labor
The enclosed nomination material is in reference to the 1/24/00 OSHA announcement addressing appointments to the OSHA Maritime Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (MACOSH).
As you are aware from previous correspondence to OSHA, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) with over 32,000 members has been committed to the protection of people, property, and the environment since 1911. Part of this commitment includes providing Society input to our national leaders. The Society believes that national agencies such as OSHA maintain a necessary national focus on occupational safety and health. Accordingly, the national committee representatives who advise OSHA will play a key role in the maintenance of this focus.
To this end, we are submitting the names of two (2) candidates we believe are worthy of consideration for appointment to MACOSH. Our nominations are; Mr. Jackie J.D. Fontenot, and Mr. Ronald G. Olivier. Both of these safety professionals are professional members of ASSE and have the professional experience, ability, and integrity to represent the interests of the public and the safety profession in the maritime industry.
We have enclosed resumes for each of these safety professionals, and believe that a review of their credentials speaks as to why they warrant such consideration. OSHA would be hard pressed to find individuals with more professional safety experience in the maritime industry from a variety of perspectives.
Thank you for your time and consideration. If we may be of further assistance in facilitating a meeting, or providing additional information please do not hesitate to contact the Society.
