The Utilities Practice Specialty invites you to attend our first Open Web Meeting.
We’re excited to have Mr. Mike Caro, HSE Manager, Willbros Field Solutions and a member of the Utilities Practice Specialty Advisory Committee on hand to share updates to the OSHA Standards for Generation, Transmission, and Distribution of Electricity. The web meeting will also be an opportunity to share some of the activities of the Utilities Practices Specialty and a chance for you to submit topics for further meetings. We want to provide a forum to discuss the safety topics that concern you and allow you to share your experience with others.
The Web meeting took place on August 5, 2015.
Here are the slides and a recording of the call.
Updates to the OSHA Standards for Generation, Transmission, and Distribution of Electricity
The revision to 29CFR1910.269 and 1926 Subpart V became law in April 2014, but we are still adjusting to the changes, and still anticipating compliance dates for some of the changes. In this call we will review the pertinent changes and upcoming compliance dates and take a deeper dive into the four most impactful changes from the revised regulation—transfer of information; minimum approach distances; fall protection; and electrical arc protection.
There will be a question and answer session for attendees during the presentation; however, should you have specific questions already formulated, please email them to Mike Caro at least two days in advance of this meeting. This will assist us in ensuring your questions are answered.
Mike Caro is currently the HSE Manager for Willbros Field Solutions. He has been involved with the electric utility industry for over 26 years – 17 plus years of that as a line worker for both contractors and utilities and the last nine as a safety professional. Mike serves on the national advisory committee of the Utilities Practice Specialty and is a board member for the Utility Safety and Ops Leadership Network (USOLN). He holds the CUSP certification with the USOLN and has a bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis Christian College.
