The health and safety of employees, customers and the general public is of major concern to organizations in this day and age, and they focus a tremendous amount of money and resources on making the commitments to these goals. They are also implementing many types of wellness and fitness programs to make sure that employees remain healthy, safe, and productive. Measuring ROI in Environment, Health and Safety shows how to measure the success of all types of programs and projects involving environmental initiatives, health-related programs for employees and the public, and various safety programs in all types of settings, as well as what to do if the programs are not working.

There are four important motivations that drive implementing and maintaining EHS programs:

  • Public image: Employers want their employees, customers, and outsides to view them as environmentally friendly health conscious, and safety minded.
  • Compliance with regulations, laws and standards: Noncompliance can be disastrous and cause the organization a great deal of cost and headaches.
  • Cost savings: While organizations want to provide EHS programs, the cost of such programs is a major concern and factor in adopting and maintaining them. Cost control and avoidance, when properly implemented, can be significant, as much as 80 percent of green projects.
  • Employee satisfaction: Employee satisfaction and attraction means employee retention, since employees prefer those organizations that protect the environment, improve their health, and provide and safe and comfortable workplace.

Measuring ROI in Environment, Health and Safety introduces the ROI Methodology, which is a successful system that shows common approaches to measuring and evaluating project success, as well as developing information that can help them to reevaluate and improve programs as they are expanded across the organization. It also shows how to measure the business impact of these programs, as well as the ROI.

The book is designed for those who initiate, create, manage, support, implement and improve EHS programs. This book is also useful to individuals who teach, research, and provide consulting for EHS programs. Case studies, examples, and data in the book are also included.
