In-Vehicle Technology: Managing Crash Risk Before the Crash Occurs

Description: This session is intended for safety professionals who work with motor vehicle fleet operations. It will describe the importance of managing crash risk and driver behaviors instead of measuring actual crash frequency and severity. In a majority of cases, workers who drive for a living, drive by themselves. Typically, there is very little direct supervision of their real-time behaviors. New technologies now available to fleet managers enable them to apply Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) principles to their drivers. Proactive fleets understand the importance of measuring upstream behaviors to prevent downstream results.
