Social Media Intern

Position Summary:

The social media intern at the American Society of Safety Engineers is instrumental in increasing our social media presence and getting visibility for our brand.


  • Create and maintain an editorial calendar via Hootsuite
  • Aggregate and/or create article content
  • Communicate exciting social media news (internal and external)
  • Schedule video interviews with staff & members/small businesses/providers
  • Distribute content to various ASSE websites
  • Monitor and engage stakeholders via various social media platforms
  • Contact Social Media leads about membership/webinars/other services
  • Conduct research to find and engage with social media contacts
  • Track website and social media statistics; provide reporting to departments


  • Well-versed with Twitter, Facebook & LinkedIn
  • Passionate about Social Media
  • Self motivated, self confident, self determined and assertive
  • Entrepreneurial, inquisitive, "need-to-know" attitude
  • Ability to assess value/role/applicability of key social media vehicles
  • Must be detail-oriented, team player and technologically savvy
  • Fast Learner on new software/apps/sites
  • Market research and strategy focus highly desirable

Must Have:

Basic understanding of the Web/Social Media landscape

  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to see the big picture
  • Strong written communication skills
