Campaign Underway to Free Silica Rulemaking from White House

Posted in on Fri, Jan 18, 2013

While ASSE has urged the White House to move forward an OSHA silica standard, ASSE does not have a positon on what a silica standard should be at this time.  ASSE’s only concern was that the White House was meeting behind closed doors with a few stakeholders about issues that can only be fully and appropriately engaged through the involvement of all stakeholders in the rulemaking process.  The rulemaking is still stuck in the White House, and a campaign is underway to free it.  While ASSE itself cannot support a standard without seeing what the proposal for a standard would be, if members as individuals want to voice support for a standard, you might want to consider adding your name to that campaign at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/protect-american-workers-exposure-silica-job/TZ0flRc4.
