Todd Conklin Offers New Definition for Safety

Human performance expert Todd Conklin recently delivered a presentation to the Business Leaders' Health & Safety Forum in New Zealand that explained why leaders need to build businesses that "fail safely"--what he calls failures without consequences.

"Safety is not the absence of accidents. Safety is the presence of defenses," Conklin said, advising attendees to "stop seeing safety as an outcome and start seeing safety as a capacity."
