Contribute to ASSE's Safety Through the Ages Exhibit at Safety 2011

During Safety 2011, slated to run June 12-15 in Chicago, attendees will have the opportunity to take a walk through time in the Safety Through the Ages exhibit. The exhibit will be a history hall featuring safety artifacts, photos and stories contributed by members, suppliers and others. It is a great opportunity to display and share your pieces of safety history.

To loan your item(s), complete the form and submit it by Feb. 11, 2011. ASSE will provide further details by April 15, 2011. Direct any questions to ASSE’s Bonnie Lipinski at (847) 768-3467.

ASSE President's Blog: Join the Discussion

In a recent post to the President’s Blog, Darryl C. Hill, Ph.D., CSP, discusses how ASSE is expanding its international influence through its global expansion plan. “The global economy and related trends are transforming how SH&E professionals must prepare,” Hill says. “We must develop new competencies and we must seek these new interconnections in order to exceed expectations in managing safety and health risks for global organizations.” Join in this and other conversations on the President’s Blog.

Virtual Symposium for Healthcare Professionals

Join healthcare colleagues from around the world during the Occupational Safety in the Healthcare Industry virtual symposium. Attend live webinars, view recordings of the sessions you missed, and network with peers and industry experts, all in a virtual environment. Scheduled for Oct. 19-21, 2010, the symposium will address the risks and hazards healthcare workers face every day and how to reduce injuries and maintain a safety working environment. Students: Submit Your Papers

You’ve read Professional Safety. Here’s your opportunity to be a part of it. ASSE is looking for students in safety degree programs to enter the student paper competition sponsored by the ASSE Editorial Review Board. Submit your paper along with a completed entry form, by Dec. 15, 2010. Participants will be eligible to win $500, attendance at Safety 2011 and a stipend of up to $600 for travel to the conference. The top-rated articles may also be considered for publication in the journal.

Use Safety Suitcase to Share the Profession

ASSE’s Safety Suitcase is an informational tool that members can use when visiting schools to talk about the SH&E profession. Designed to educate 4th through 6th grade students, the suitcase helps members reach out to kids when their ideas about careers and the future are forming, and introduce them to what SH&E professionals do to keep people safe at work.
