ASSE Election Nominations Deadline

The deadline for 2010 ASSE nominations is Aug. 15. The Society will be electing the senior vice president, vice president-finance, vice president-practices and standards, all even-numbered region vice presidents and select area directors. Members who wish to be considered for region vice president or area director must contact their regional nominations committee.

Did You Miss Safety 2009?

Eleven sessions from Safety 2009 will be available as webcast recordings. These webcasts include access to the slides, speaker audio and any videos that were part of the presentations. If you purchase all 11 sessions, you will be able to earn 1.0 CEU. For more information, contact Dan McNeill. In addition, audio recordings for most of the sessions are now available for purchase and download from Audio Visual Education Network.

Sponsor a New Member

Recruiting new ASSE members is a beneficial way to network and strengthen your professional association. Recruit new members by giving them an application or by having them apply online directly. Remember to ask your new recruits to enter your name in the sponsor blank to receive credit as the sponsor.

Five Members Receive Culberton Awards

Pamela B. Perrich, CIH, head of the industrial hygiene department of the Naval Hospital Pensacola, has provided exemplary service to the Industrial Hygiene Practice Specialty, which she currently serves as assistant administrator. She is also the North Florida/Georgia Area Director in Region IV, and recently served as chair of the region’s conference. Perrich is a professional member of ASSE’s Pensacola Chapter.
Jack Toellner, P.E., CSP, safety advisor for ExxonMobil Development Corp., is a long-time educator for ASSE. He has been a member of two symposia task forces and an instructor at ASSE’s SeminarFest and pre- and post-conference seminars. He also teaches ASSE’s popular seminar on building a world-class safety system. Toellner is a professional member of ASSE’s Gulf Coast Chapter.
David M. Natalizia, principal of Dynamic Safety, has provided outstanding guidance and leadership to ASSE’s Hospitality Branch. Under his leadership, branch membership has grown more than 100%, and industry involvement has increased as well. He has also been a regular presenter on service industry topics at the Society’s annual conference and is a frequent contributor to the branch’s newsletter. Natalizia is a professional member of ASSE’s Colorado Chapter.
David G. Bascom, REM, senior manager, health, safety and environment for NuStar Energy LP, has been an active member of ASSE and the Management Practice Specialty. He is currently that group’s assistant administrator and former newsletter editor. In addition, Bascom was a member of the organizing committee and a speaker at ASSE’s safety culture symposium held earlier this year. He is a professional member of ASSE’s Sacramento Chapter.
Steven I. Simon, Ph.D., president, Culture Change Consultants, chaired the task force that developed ASSE’s safety culture symposium, held in January 2009. As chair of the task force, he helped to organize and plan the symposium, and led other culture change authorities in creating a highly successful continuing education event. Simon is a member of ASSE’s Hudson Valley Chapter.
