Web 2.0 and the SH&E Professional:
Using Second Life to Create Immersive Learning Experiences

Webinar - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 - 11am-12:30pm CST

As SH&E professionals we know that inspiring people to care about safety issues can be a challenge. Unless they have the unfortunate experience of having lived through an emergency situation or workplace accident, it’s often hard to make them see the urgency. But what if you could setup a “virtual emergency”? What if you could replicate a dangerous workplace scenario or emergency situation and let your employees practice handling it? What if your employees could safely participate in these “live” exercises from the safety of their own homes?

Well, with “virtual worlds” such as Second Life, you can. In this exciting ASSE virtual classroom event, we’ll introduce you to Second Life, and show you how it’s being used right now to help deliver the next generation of safety training.

Join Ramesh Ramloll, Assistant Professor from Idaho State’s Play2Train group and ASSE’s own Dan McNeill in exploring the many possibilities Second Life has to offer the SH&E profession. In this highly interactive virtual classroom session, you’ll learn just what Second Life is, how it works and how it’s being used today!

This virtual class will take place on Wednesday – July 16th, from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM (CST).
