As SH&E professionals, we’ve all heard of, or maybe even participated in, table-top exercises. Normally, these exercises are centered around scenarios like a hazardous materials scare or some other scenario designed to test your ability to handle a crisis.
But when it comes to workplace safety, isn’t a “crisis of leadership” quite often one of our greatest challenges?
Take part in this three-part interactive virtual classroom event from ASSE, where you’ll work through scenarios, get feedback from your peers and get a chance to sharpen your safety leadership skills. Through real-life scenarios, you’ll learn how to enhance your business acumen, influence management and communication skills.
This “hybrid” format will utilize a combination of live webinar sessions, interactive role-plays and online discussion boards to help you develop, apply and hone those skills necessary to lead. You’ll have a chance to respond to various scenarios and even receive feedback from a panel of "managers" as to the strengths exhibited and suggestions for improvement – all in a safe, collaborative and convenient setting.
This virtual class will take place on consecutive Wednesdays - on August 27th and September 3rd. Each session will meet from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (CST). For those unable to meet a session, each webinar will be recorded, to allow participants in the program to catch up on what they missed!
This is a hybrid ASSE virtual classroom program that will consist of two main avenues of interaction. They are:
The live webinars will be used for general presentation of content, a discussion of leadership skills and an exploration of leadership scenarios.
The social networking tool will be used for “homework” assignments and the presentation of scenarios. These assignments will be a chance for participants to provide their ideas and responses to various scenarios and questions assigned by the instructor.
This session may benefit safety professionals looking to move into a safety leadership role within their organization.
Upon completion of this session you will receive:
James “Skipper” Kendrick is a past President of ASSE and a long-time champion and advocate of workplace safety.
He was named Edgar Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) in 2000, and he has received SPY recognition from the ASSE’s Greater Baton Rouge Chapter (1985), Fort Worth Chapter (1989) and Region III (1990).
Mr. Kendrick holds a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology (with a safety option) from Louisiana State University. He is active in the Bell Helicopter Leadership Club, and he serves in Bell’s Mentor Program as well. Kendrick is a nationally recognized seminar leader in the field of safety management and training.
