Training Needs Assessments - Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How

Training Needs Assessments are arguably the most frequently over-looked part or aspect of training. Many training professionals underestimate the importance of conducting these events and as a result, training is not relevant and does not meet the needs of the audience or the organization. On Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at 11:00AM, Jonathan Klane, M.S.Ed., CIH, CHMM, CET will present this interactive session with George Pearson, CSP, ARM as moderator in a unique Q&A format.

Jonathan Klane, M.S.Ed., CIH, CHMM, CET has over 20 years of experience providing health, safety, training, and consulting services including “Train-the-Trainer” courses to business, industry, government, and education. He taught for 3 years full-time in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) at Central Maine Technical College (CMTC). In 1998 he founded Klane’s Education Information Training Hub SM (KEITH SM) and he directs all health and safety training. Mr. Klane is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), and Certified Environmental Safety and Health Trainer (CET), as well as having a Masters in Adult Education (M.S.Ed.) which greatly influences how he provides training.

George Pearson is the Corporate Health and Safety Manager for SunCom Wireless, a regional wireless telecommunications carrier operating in five Southeastern States and Puerto Rico. He is the lead safety professional in the organization with company-wide responsibilities for the employee safety and training, vehicle safety, property conservation programs, and regulatory affairs regarding OSHA, EPA and US DOT. George also administers workers' compensation and is the gatekeeper for company-wide property and casualty claims. George is a professional member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). He is a past Administrator of the Risk Management and Insurance Practice Specialty, ’05 –’07 and a founding member of the International Practice Specialty. He is currently a member of the Society’s Professional Development Conference Committee.
