Roles, Responsibilities and Activities of Managers and Supervisors for Maximizing Safety and Health Performance

In organizations that attain safety and health performance excellence, senior managers, middle managers, first line supervisors and safety professionals are equally engaged in the management of safety and health. Their roles, responsibilities, and activities are clearly defined and executed with zeal and precision. This ASSE Technical Conference Call will discuss how management effectively manages safety and health in the safest companies in the US and abroad. This webinar is designed for the safety and health professional and the entire management team.
Objectives:
• To review the cold hard facts about effective safety management
• To clearly delineate roles of senior managers, middle managers, first line supervisors and safety and health professionals necessary for the attainment of safety performance excellence
• To discuss specific activities that need to be engaged in by senior managers, middle managers, first line supervisors to facilitate a safety culture change
The presentation will last approximately 60 minutes and will be followed by 30 minutes of questions and answers. Participants in the “live” conference call via webinar are eligible for .15 CEU upon completion of all requirements, which include completing the on-line evaluation and on-line participation in polls, feedback and/or assessment sessions. A link to a post-session assessment will be emailed to all registered participants following the live conference event. Participants are invited to submit questions ahead of time at conferencecall@asse.org. You may also submit questions during the session.
Samuel J. Gualardo M.A.,C.S.P., President of National Safety Consultants, Inc. is a nationally recognized expert in safety management. He serves on the faculty for Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Dupont Safety Resources, the American Society of Safety Engineers and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Mr. Gualardo holds a B.S. in Safety Management and a M.A. Degree in Labor/Industrial Relations. He is also a Certified Safety Professional. Mr.Gualardo is a distinguished past National President of the American Society of Safety Engineers. In 2004, Mr.Gualardo was nominated by the American Society of Safety Engineers as a candidate to serve as the Assistant Secretary of Labor as head of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. In 2006, he was again nominated by ASSE to serve as a Deputy Director under the Assistant Secretary of Labor-OSHA. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors for the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
