Who must comply with environmental regulations? And why should you be concerned?
If you are a professional who has just assumed environmental responsibilities or if you need a basic understanding of major federal environmental regulations, ASSE’s Technical Webinar, Essential Knowledge of Environmental Regulations, will provide you with key information on your role and responsibilities.
Federal laws controlling hazardous chemical exposure to human health and the environment fall into five categories: 1) occupational; 2) transportation; 3) chemical use; 4) environmental protection and 5) cleanup. Failure to meet these standards can be costly for your organization and community and for you. In this Webinar, Salvatore Caccavale, an established environmental expert, will lead a presentation of the basic federal regulations for water, air and solid waste. Included in this Webinar will be current information on RCRA, SARA, CERCLA, FIFRA, CWA and CAA.Participants will not only learn what these acronyms mean, they will also gain an understanding of the basics requirements of each regulation. Caccavale will also discuss potential resources for additional information.
Those who work with potential air or waterway pollutants or who generate, transport, treat, store or dispose of solid and hazardous wastes will want to participate in this event. Salvatore Caccavale, CHMM, is Corporate Director of Environmental, Health and Safety for Superior Bulk Logistics in Oak Brook, IL. He has taught environmental, safety and industrial hygiene courses for the Community College of Beaver County in western Pennsylvania and the University if Medicine and Dentistry (Rutgers University) in Piscataway, NJ.
Caccavale is serving a two-year term as Vice President of the National Safety Council’s (NSC) Business and Industry Division and the NSC Board of Directors. He has professional association with ASSE’s Environmental and Transportation practice specialties, the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and the National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) Safety Council.
A recipient of NSC’s Distinguished Service to Safety Award, Caccavale serves on the editorial advisory boards of ASSE’s Professional Safety Journal and NSC‘s Safety + Health magazine. He is also a technical advisor and guest columnist for the Safety Compliance Letter published by the Bureau of Business Practices.
All participants will receive a copy of the PowerPoint, a link to associated materials and access to an on-line recording. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to participate in on-line polls and evaluations. Participants will have ample opportunities to ask questions before, during, and after the Webinar. Participants completing all activities are eligible for .15 CEU.
