About this Standard

ASSE is now an authorized seller of the Board of Environmental, Health and Safety Auditor Certifications' (BEAC) recently revised SH&E auditing voluntary national consensus standard titled:  “Performance and Program Standards for the Professional Practice of Environmental, Health and Safety Auditing.”  The document notably:

• Describes the role and responsibilities of EH&S auditing to all levels of management, boards of directors, public bodies, internal and external auditors and related professional organizations

• Establishes the basis for guidance and measurement of EH&S auditing performance

• Improves the practice of EH&S auditing and advance the EH&S auditing profession

Of additional importance is that this standard also defines what is required to conduct a competent audit and apply these requirements to:

• Audit programs and procedures

• All EH&S auditing professionals, whether they are employed by organizations internally or as external contractors/consultants functioning in an EH&S auditing role

This standard is a revision of their popular 1999 version and the final document includes a breakdown of the key changes between the 1999 and 2008 versions and is available in both hard copy or electronic copy.
