This manual is designed to help small businesses reduce occupational injuries and illness through the establishment of an effective safety and health program. Written in a user-friendly format, it is designed to be informational rather than procedural. The use of jargon and technical language is held to a minimum. ASSE’s program is meant to be used along with established policies, procedures, and work practices. Safety and Health Program for Small Businesses contains sixteen sections that address safety and health-related issues such as hazard communication, control of hazardous energy sources, and permit-required confined spaces. Each section contains tables, forms, and references to help the employer customize the manual according to specific workplace hazards and local requirements.
