New global standard considered a milestone in creating safer workplaces

A significant standard was approved after five years in the making – ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, spearheaded by ISO with support from ASSE. The first-of-its-kind global consensus model provides a framework that can reduce workplace risks and improve business outcomes worldwide.

ASSE prepared to help reverse trend of fatal workplace injuries

ASSE pledges to work with its extensive network of members and stakeholders to help address fatal occupational injuries that increased for the third straight year according to newly released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. There were 5,190 workplace fatalities in 2016, up 7 percent from 2015.

Hudson honored by IOSH with President’s Distinguished Service Award

The award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to IOSH or the occupational safety and health profession for several years.

ASSE launches search for new executive director

ASSE is working with executive search firm Korn Ferry to hire its next executive director. Dennis Hudson, ASSE's current executive director, is set to retire in April after two years in that position and 10 years at the Society overall. His replacement will become the eighth executive director since ASSE was founded in 1911.
