NIOSH PtD Update – ASSE Webinar on PtD and Tech Report

Through the contributions of various ASSE members, ASSE supports the activities of NIOSH’s Prevention through Design (PtD) Council. The following update on a few of the many PtD activities comes from Donna Heidel, who leads the PtD effort for NIOSH --

Outcomes of the PtD “Making Green Jobs Safe” Workshop, December 14 – 17, 2009

On December 14 – 16, NIOSH hosted the Making Green Jobs Safe Workshop in Washington, DC. The purpose of the Workshop was to gain stakeholder input on activities needed to ensure that green jobs are safe and healthy for workers. Many of our PtD Council members played a significant role at the Workshop, as PtD stakeholders, break-out group leaders or plenary session speakers. Noteworthy Accomplishments

ASSE has recently published a technical report: ASSE TRZ790.001-2009 Prevention through Design Guidelines for Addressing Occupational Risks in Design and Redesign Processes. The technical report is available through ASSE. We recognize the special contributions of Fred Manuele on developing this technical report!
