RE: HB 353

Dear Representative Dodson:

On behalf of the members of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) who live and work in Georgia, we would like to thank you for your effort to promote professional recognition on behalf of specific occupational safety and health practitioner designations in your bill, HB 353.

ASSE is the oldest and largest society of safety professionals in the world. Founded in 1911, ASSE now represents more than 30,000 safety, health and environmental (SH+E) professionals dedicated to protecting people, property and the environment worldwide.

The most widely recognized independently accredited safety designation that our members have achieved is the Certified Safety Professional (CSP). A significant number of our members also have achieved the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation. Both certifications represent the highest level of professional achievement in occupational SH+E. No doubt, there are ASSE members who have achieved the other designations included in HB 353, also.

ASSE is sharing this letter with our members who belong to ASSE Chapters in Augusta, Marietta and Savannah. Our hope is that those who believe it will assist our profession can join you in your effort. Your approach supports our individual members' commitment to their professional capabilities in having achieved the designations included in your bill.

Again, thank you for your efforts on behalf of ASSE's member SH+E practitioners in Georgia.

Sincerely,

Gene Barfield, CSP

President
