Many of us wish that EH&S was a better known field and that more young people would find it as a career path. Angela Banerjee took action to increase awareness of the profession by participating in a high school career fair in Ripon, Wisconsin. The event included two avenues to participate. The first was the option to have a table in the gym beside other companies, professions, associations, and companies so that students passing through could learn about the profession and ask questions. The second aspect was delivering a 20-minute presentation to students. The students were informed of the speaker and profession options prior to the career fair and signed up to listen to specific speakers.
About 20 students, in two different groups, came to hear Angela talk about the safety profession. Other students stopped by the booth during the open fair time to chat with Angela and a fellow safety professional, Lori Welch of Ripon Printers.

ChapterWISE is a team of representatives that coordinate local WISE events. Our team has monthly, 30-minute phone call to share ideas about what we want ChapterWISE to be overall and to share information about activities we've done, and those that are coming up. We send out monthly updates with Talking Points so each representative can share what WISE is doing at their chapter meetings. Activities for each chapter vary depending on the representative and WISE members of the chapter. If you're interested or want more information please contact Lesli Johnson or Karen LaRue.
