Get Involved in the Fire Protection Practice SpecialtyBecoming a member of the Fire Protection Practice Specialty is the first step toward becoming an integral part of something really great. We are not only growing in membership, but also in scope to meet the needs of existing members and future members. We are a community interested in fire prevention, fire protection and various components of emergency management. Each member has areas of specialty as well as areas of interest or need. The Practice Specialty is the perfect forum to link specialty, interest, need, knowledge and opportunity. You are the key to the Fire Protection Practice Specialty's success. We are all volunteers with a common goal - to provide an important knowledge resource. We can only get out of this Practice Specialty what we as members put in. Therefore, we encourage you to contribute so that everyone will find this to be a worthwhile venture. We offer many ways for you to get involved. We have Advisory Committee positions, Committee Chair and Member positions and opportunities for you to participate in special projects or to write for our newsletter, Fireline. It is merely a matter of matching your interests and abilities to those needs. If you have absolutely no time, recommend someone in the field who might make a good interview candidate for Fireline. All you provide is a name, email address and why you recommend the person - ASSE will do the rest. If you know someone who recently presented at a local conference and who would be a good fit for ASSE's Professional Development Conference, recommend that they apply as a speaker. Everyone has something to contribute. We can always use articles for Fireline. This is one way to also earn continuance of certification points for many professional certifications. Member contributions make up the main content of our newsletter. If there are things you want to see published in Fireline, write about them or recommend a topic. |
