
William Marletta is an active member of several ASSE and ASTM standards committees and helped reinvigorate the ASTM F13 committee over the last 20 years. He has collaborated with several universities and national associations on research projects intended to improve or further slip resistance safety standards, and he chairs the task group that is redeveloping ASTM F13 Safety Standard F802, “Guideline for the Selection of Footwear When Considering Traction.”
He has worked with OSHA to establish criteria for the slip resistance of steel and decking in construction and with NFPA to develop a slip performance standard for NFPA Committee 1901 on Fire Trucks. His work with ASTM F15.06 Committee on Playground Apparatus led to the prohibition of combination-design playground units.
Marletta is an ASTM Fellow as well as a past recipient of ASTM’s Award of Merit and ASSE’s Edgar Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Year Award and Long Island Chapter Safety Professional of the Year Award.
