NASHVILLE, TN (June 29, 2009) – The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Middle Tennessee Chapter recently announced that it is awarding a total of $11,000 in occupational safety and health scholarships to nine college students studying in Tennessee and Kentucky.

The chapter awarded two $2,000 scholarships through the ASSE Foundation, the Harold F. Polston Scholarship to John C. “Including the Harold F. Polston and Keith Bain scholarships, we are very pleased to be able to award seven more scholarships this year. Each of these scholarship recipients have met the high academic and eligibility requirements along with excelling in a challenging curriculum of occupational safety and health”, said Ron A. Kirsch, Ph.D., ASSE Middle Tennessee Chapter Scholarship Committee chair. “On behalf of the Scholarship Committee, congratulations to the winners!”
