DES PLAINES, IL (October
9, 2000) -- Illustrating its continuing commitment to safety, the DaimlerChrysler
Corporation Fund recently donated $25,000 to the American Society of Safety
Engineers' Foundation (ASSEF). This is their second contribution of $25,000
to the ASSEF in the last two years. The contribution will be put toward
elevating safety awareness in the workplace, fostering future safety and
health professionals and to conduct applied research aimed at protecting
people, property and the environment.
"Over the years, contributions from safety-focused
organizations such as the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund have helped
hundreds of students from around the country pursue their academic studies
in occupational safety and health, supported several key research projects
and the development of accredited college degree programs throughout the
country," ASSE Foundation Chairman Edwin P. Granberry, Jr., FAIC, CES,
said today. "We commend them for their continued efforts to promote workplace
safety and health and for giving many the opportunity to continue their
education and research and bring their expertise and findings to the workplace,
eventually benefiting everyone, everywhere."
The ASSE Foundation (www.asse.org/foundat.htm),
through contributions from individual ASSE members, corporations, ASSE
chapters, regions and practice specialty groups, is dedicated to supporting
the advancement of the safety profession and to protect the safety and
health of the public through funding safety research and education; providing
professional development and financial resources to individuals and non-profit
organizations pursuing safety research and careers; advancing the safety
profession through financial awards for scholarships, internships and
fellowships; and towards developing accredited degree programs countrywide.
The DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund supports
their corporation's core set of themes and criteria that include programs
that "demonstrate leadership, innovation, being a model of effective change,
