FORD MOTOR COMPANY FUNDS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR WOMEN IN SAFETYDES PLAINES, IL (March 14, 2005) – Supporting women in the occupational safety, health and environmental profession, the Ford Motor Company Fund recently donated $15,000 to the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation for undergraduate and graduate scholarships. Through the Ford Motor Company Fund's donation four scholarships of $3,450 each will be awarded to women pursuing a degree in the occupational safety, health and environmental field. The scholarships will be presented this June during ASSE's annual Professional Development Conference and Exposition in New Orleans. ASSE Foundation Chair Kennith D. Brock, CSP, said, “We are proud of the Ford Motor Company Fund's efforts in aiding future safety practitioners and advancing the profession. Through Ford's support the ASSE Foundation has provided 16 scholarships over the past 6 years to women pursuing a career in the safety and health profession.” Applicants must be student members of ASSE. Undergraduates must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 out of 4.0, are currently enrolled in 12 or more semester hours, and have completed at least 60 semester hours. Graduates must have a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0, are currently enrolled in nine or more semester hours, and have an overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.
