This new site features timely information on ASSE's standards development activities, safety standard hot topics and issues, key technical insights, and provides an opportunity for ASSE members and non-members alike to share expertise on occupational safety, health and environmental (SH&E) efforts in all industries. ASSE is secretariat for several American National Standards Institute (ANSI) committees and projects which include: the A10 Safety Requirements for Construction and Demolition Operations; the A1264 Protection of Floor and Wall Openings; the Z15 Motor Vehicle Fleet Safety; the Z117 Confined Spaces; the Z244 Lockout/Tagout; the Z359 Fall Protection; the Z390 Hydrogen Sulfide Safety Training; the Z490 Safety, Health and Environmental Training; the Z590 Competence and Certification in the Safety Profession; and, the Z690 project on protecting workers dealing with mold remediation. ASSE is also the administrator for the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) on fall protection standards. ASSE members serve on over 40 other safety and health standards committees. Standards are developed utilizing the principles of consensus, due process and openness and depends heavily upon data gathering and compromises among a diverse range of stakeholders.
