“The ASSE Foundation, ASSE and its members have greatly helped me over the years,” Murray said Monday. “It's time to give back.” Murray was also an ASSE student member in 1997 and is now the director of casualty risk control for AON Risk Services Inc. of New York. Murray and the Boston Chapter members joined 22 other ASSE chapter representatives from around the country who, in 10 minutes, gave $48,975 in scholarship donations to the ASSE Foundation. ASSE chapters providing donations included those from the states of Alaska, Illinois, Virginia, Hawaii, Alabama, New York, Texas, California, Tennessee, Oregon, North Carolina, Ohio, Maryland, Nevada, and Colorado. The ASSE House of Delegates meeting was part of the ASSE Professional Development Conference (PDC) and Exposition being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Hilton June 7 – 10 where 3800 occupational safety, health and environmental practitioners are attending.
Chartered in 1990, the ASSE Foundation is committed to ensuring the future of the occupational safety and health profession by providing financial resources to individuals and organizations. Funding for the Foundation is from corporations and ASSE members – from individuals and from chapters countrywide, for applied safety research, scholarships, fellowships, internships and professional development.
