SAFETY – WHAT WORKS, WHAT DOESN'T – FOCUS OF JUNE 7-10
AMERICAN SOCIETY OF SAFETY ENGINEERS ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN LAS VEGAS

WHAT:

Founded in 1911, the Des Plaines, IL-based American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) will be host to its annual Professional Development Conference and Exposition at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. ASSE's 30,000 occupational safety, health and environmental professional members manage, research and consult on safety, health, transportation and environmental issues in all industries, government, labor and education. Innovative fall protection, asbestos, mold, driver safety, accident investigations, virtual ergonomics, measuring safety results, international workplace safety, terrorism and much, much more are topics of some of the more than 170 sessions being offered to attendees. Additionally, top corporate leaders, including Bechtel Corporation's Chairman and CEO Riley Bechtel, will discuss how they perceive the role of safety in the corporate culture at Thursday's, June 10 Executive Summit on Safety. Bechtel Corporation is a major employer in Nevada. In his keynote address, U.S. Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) Administrator John Henshaw will discuss OSHA's national role and sign a new Alliance with ASSE. Dr. John Howard, director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), will discuss the recently announced reorganization of NIOSH and the impact it will have on occupational safety, health, the environment and the profession.
