AMERICAN SOCIETY OF SAFETY ENGINEERS
RECEIVE NEW IACET CONTINUING EDUCATION STATUS

      DES PLAINES, IL (November 04, 2002) - The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) was approved as an Authorized Provider of continuing education by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) on October 18, 2002. Extending until 2007, this new status replaces the IACET Certified Provider status that ASSE has held since 1998.

      The Authorized Provider status recognizes that ASSE can award Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to attendees for training completed at ASSE seminars, workshops and symposia at the national, regional and chapter levels. A CEU is equivalent to ten hours of continuing education.

      This year's ASSE professional development events include the Emergency Preparedness and Response Symposium this November 14-15 in Scottsdale, AZ, and SeminarFest January 27-February 2, 2003 in Orlando, FL. ASSE also offers professional development courses such as the Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, Construction Health and Safety Technician, and Occupational Health and Safety Technologist examination preparation workshops, the Executive Program in Safety Management seminars, and the Certificate in Safety Management seminars.

      IACET's training criteria is recognized worldwide as the universal standard for continuing education. Created by a national task force in 1968, IACET is a non-profit association dedicated to quality continuing education and training programs.
