NEW MEXICO RESIDENTS DONATE TO
PROFESSIONAL SAFETY SCHOLARSHIPS

DES PLAINES, IL (April 22, 2003) - Based in New Mexico, the Four Corners Section of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) recently presented the ASSE Foundation with $500 for college scholarships. The donation will be used for the "Gold Country Section and Region II Scholarship" fund for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree in the occupational safety, health and environmental field.

The ASSE Four Corners Section has members throughout McKinley, Rio Arriba and San Juan counties. The section is part of the New Mexico Chapter, which was established in 1956 and currently has 420 members throughout New Mexico.

Established by the ASSE Foundation, the annual scholarship is named after the ASSE Gold Country Section, which is part of the ASSE Sierra Nevada Chapter based in Reno, NV. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an ASSE student member and priority will go to students residing in ASSE's Region II area; Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. The recipient of the first-ever Gold County Section and Region II Scholarship will be announced this April and presented June 24 at ASSE's annual Professional Development Conference and Exposition in Denver, CO.
