ALASKA, CALIFORNIA, HAWAII, OREGON, WASHINGTON
RESIDENTS DONATE TO OCCUPATIONAL
SAFETY AND HEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS

DES PLAINES, IL (December 19, 2002) - The American Society of Safety Engineer's (ASSE) Region I recently presented a $2,140 donation to the ASSE Foundation for occupational safety, health and environmental college scholarships. Region I consists of 20 ASSE chapters throughout Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington.

ASSE Region I vice president Brian A. Clarke of Portland, OR, said, "We stand behind the Foundation and its dedication to ushering in the next generation of safety professionals."

The ASSE Foundation will award nearly $50,000 in annual undergraduate and graduate scholarships at ASSE's annual Professional Development Conference this June in Denver, CO.

Chartered in 1990, the ASSE Foundation is committed to ensuring the future of the occupational safety and health profession by providing financial resources to individuals and organizations. Funding for the Foundation comes from corporations and voluntary donations from ASSE members - individual and through chapters countrywide for applied safety research, scholarships, fellowships, internships and professional development.
