ASSE FOUNDATION ESTABLISHES SAFETY AND
HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS IN AL,
FL, GA, LA, MS, PR, VI

DES PLAINES, IL (September 3, 2002) - The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation today announced the new "Region IV - Edwin P. Granberry Jr. Scholarship" available for undergraduates pursuing an occupational safety and health degree in ASSE's Region IV; Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. One annual $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate in a safety-related degree program that is a native or current resident in the Region IV area and a student member of ASSE.

ASSE's Region IV recently donated $1,750 to the Foundation, bringing their total to $8,250 for the fund. The scholarship is named in honor of Edwin P. Granberry, BCFE, FAIC, OHST, of Winter Park, FL, who has been a Professional Member of ASSE since 1971.Granberry has served various national, regional and chapter officer positions with ASSE, including Region IV vice president and ASSE Foundation Chair, and he received several awards including ASSE's highest honor, Society Fellow. He is president of Granberry and Associates LLC and he holds a B.S. from Rollins College and an M.B.A. from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
