ASSE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES REGIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP FOR AZ, CO, ID, MT,
NV, NM, UT, WY STUDENTS

DES PLAINES, IL (August 29, 2002) - The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation announced today the new "Gold Country Section and Region II Scholarship" available for undergraduate and graduate students in the occupational safety, health and environment field. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an ASSE student member and priority will go to students residing in ASSE's Region II area; Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.

Established by the ASSE Foundation, the annual scholarship is named after ASSE's Gold Country Section, which is part of the ASSE Sierra Nevada Chapter based in Reno. The section has donated over $20,000 to the scholarship fund, which is one of three ASSE endowed scholarships. In addition, the section has donated to other charitable organizations including the local Boys and Girls Clubs.

The Foundation is accepting scholarship applications from now until December 1, 2002.
