DES PLAINES, IL (August 19, 2002) - Based in Dallas, TX, the Southwest Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) recently donated $1,000 to the ASSE Foundation for its student scholarship program. The funds will be used for undergraduate and graduate scholarships for students in occupational safety, health and environmental degree programs. Since 1994, ASSE's Southwest Chapter has donated $7,630 to the Foundation
Chartered in 1990, the ASSE Foundation is committed to ensuring the future of the occupational safety and health profession by providing financial resources to individuals and organizations. Funding for the Foundation comes from corporations and voluntary donations from ASSE members - individual and through chapters countrywide for applied safety research, scholarships, fellowships, internships and professional development.
This year the Foundation will award nearly $50,000 in annual scholarships to occupational safety, health and environment students.
