"UPS is proud to support the ASSE Foundation in its efforts to provide occupational safety and health scholarships to students throughout the country," said Jones. "With this donation we aspire to help the Foundation with its mission of supporting theadvancement of the safety profession and protecting the safety and health of all Americans." UPS has remained a dedicated supporter of the ASSE Foundation, providing funds this year for two junior and two senior undergraduate scholarships, in addition to establishing the ASSEF UPS Diversity Scholarship Program for minority students in the occupational safety, health and environment field. Since 1996 the UPS Foundation has donated a total of $121,250 to the ASSE Foundation, providing funds for 23 occupational safety and health scholarships. Applications for the ASSEF UPS Diversity Scholarships are available on-line at www.asse.org/foundat.htm. The deadline for applying for this scholarship is April 15. Applicants must be from a minority, ethnic or racial group, be an ASSE student member and U.S. citizen, and have a GPA of 3.25/4.0. Two diversity scholarships will be offered this year. Founded in 1951 and based in Atlanta, GA, the UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its support will clearly impact social concerns. Each year the Foundation awards funds for applied safety research, scholarships, fellowships, internships and professional development. Funding for the Foundation comes from corporations and voluntary donations from ASSE members - individual and through chapters countrywide.
