EASTERN NEW YORK RESIDENTS DONATE FUNDS
IN HONOR OF LOST WORKERS

DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS (December 6, 2001) - Based in Albany, the Eastern New York Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) recently donated $350 to the "America Responds Fund" as a tribute to the ASSE members whose lives were lost in the September 11th attacks. The memorial scholarship, established by the ASSE Foundation, was set up to honor their dedication to occupational safety, health and the environment.

Since September over $4,000 has been raised for this fund from ASSE members. Each year the Foundation awards funds for applied safety research, scholarships, fellowships, internships and professional development. Founded in 1911 and celebrating its 90th anniversary, ASSE is the oldest and largest professional safety and health organization and is dedicated to protecting people, property and the environment. Its over 30,000 members manage, supervise, and consult on safety, health and environmental issues in industry, insurance, government and education. For more information on the scholarships and how to apply visit ASSE's website at http://www.asse.org/format_frames_main.asp?
