DES PLAINES, IL (September 14, 2001) -- As a tribute to the American Society of Safety Engineers' (ASSE) members whose lives were lost during this week's tragedy, the ASSE Foundation today established a memorial scholarship fund. This scholarship fund will honor those who dedicated their lives to occupational safety, health and the environment.
The Foundation is accepting donations from members, chapters, regions, corporations or any individual who would like to honor the memory of these fallen members. To donate to this fund, simply earmark the contribution "America Responds Fund" and send it to: American Society of Safety Engineers, Attn: Foundation, 1800 E. Oakton Street, Des Plaines, IL 60018.
Each year the Foundation awards funds for applied safety research, scholarships, fellowships, internships and professional development. Founded in 1911, the non-profit ASSE has 30,000 members and is the oldest and largest professional safety organization. For more information on the Foundation, the scholarships and research funding offered and how one can apply, contact www.asse.org.
