DAIMLERCHRYSLER CONTINUES SUPPORT OF WORKPLACE SAFETY EDUCATION, RESEARCH

     DES PLAINES, IL (April 26, 2005) — Supporting occupational safety education and research, the Michigan-based DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund today donated $10,000 to the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation.

ASSE Foundation Chair Kennith D. Brock, CSP, said, "We congratulate DaimlerChrysler for its dedication to the ASSE Foundation and the safety profession. DaimlerChrysler has donated $135,000 over the past six years to support professional development and safety research in reducing workplace injuries and illnesses. The ASSE Foundation uses part of the DaimlerChrysler contribution to also fund a college scholarship."

The ASSE Foundation today named student member David Sousa of Warwick, RI, as the recipient of the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund Scholarship, a $2,000 award. Sousa is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Safety Technology at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY.

The non-profit DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund was established in 1953 to help enrich the physical and cultural needs of communities and business environments. Its mission is to develop a skilled workforce, support responsive communities, encourage employee participation, and respond to public policy and marketplace issues.

Chartered in 1990, the ASSE Foundation is committed to ensuring the future of the occupational safety and health profession by providing financial resources to individuals and organizations.
