Established by the Boston, MA-based Greater Boston Chapter of ASSE, a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year to an undergraduate or graduate in safety and health or a closely related field. Applicants must either be an ASSE New England area member, student member, or a member's spouse or child. New England includes the following ASSE chapters: Greater Boston, Connecticut Valley, Granite State, Maine, Nutmeg and Worcester County.

ASSE Greater Boston Chapter President, David Crowley, CSP, CET, CHMM, of Canton, MA, said, “The Greater Boston Chapter is proud to support the ASSE Foundation and this new scholarship named in honor of our past chapter leaders who have dedicated much time and energy in building one of the oldest ASSE chapters. This new scholarship will help individuals pursuing a career in workplace safety and health in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.”

This past June the Greater Boston Chapter donated $15,100 to the ASSE Foundation, fully endowing this new scholarship fund. The Greater Boston Chapter first formed in 1924 with a group of 54 members, and today has over 500 members.
