NORTH CAROLINA SAFETY PROFESSIONAL
APPOINTED TO AMERICAN SOCIETY OF SAFETY ENGINEERS
FOUNDATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The ASSE Foundation appointed Thomas F. Cecich of Apex, NC, as a new Foundation Board trustee.

DES PLAINES, IL ( July 21, 2004) -- The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation that provides scholarships for students and research countrywide recently announced the appointment of Thomas F. Cecich of Apex, NC, as a trustee on its ten-member Foundation Board. He was approved by the ASSE Board on July 6, beginning his three-year term.

Cecich serves as president of TFC and Associates in Apex, NC. He previously served as vice president of Environment, Health and Safety Business Support for GlaxoSmithKline and as president of the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). He received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL; and an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC.

Among his 31 years with the Society, Cecich has served as a member of the Educational Standards Committee, the Public Relations Committee, and most recently chaired the speaker subcommittee on the Professional Development Conference (PDC) Planning Committee. He is a professional member and past president of ASSE's Durham-based North Carolina Chapter, and he previously served as a Foundation Board trustee from 1992-1997. Cecich received the Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service award in 2001 for his efforts in advancing the safety profession and the Society.

Chartered in 1990, the ASSE Foundation is committed to ensuring the future of the occupational safety and health profession by providing financial resources to individuals and organizations. Funding for the Foundation comes from corporations and voluntary donations from ASSE members - individual and through chapters countrywide for applied safety research, scholarships, fellowships, internships and professional development.
