DES PLAINES, IL (March 7,
2001) -- The American Society of Safety Engineers Foundation (ASSEF)
received a $1,000 donation from the Greater Calumet Chapter based in Gary,
Indiana, according to Foundation Chair Ed Granberry.
Chapter President Daniel Lavin says the Chapter "voted unanimously to
make the donation to the general fund, to be applied wherever the Foundation
feels the need is greatest." Lavin adds that the Chapter hopes the Foundation
will continue to "grow and provide funds for applied safety research,
scholarships, fellowships, internships and professional development."
He notes that the Chapter's President-Elect, Michael O'Toole, a graduate
of Purdue University Calumet, benefited from the Foundation as a recipient
of a research grant on "The Value of Employee Perception Surveys."
