FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AMERICAN SOCIETY OF SAFETY ENGINEERS FUND
NEW CONSTRUCTION SAFETY SCHOLARSHIP
DES PLAINES, IL (April 6, 2004) -- The
American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) today announced that it will
fund a new construction safety scholarship for students, through the ASSE
Foundation. The funds will be raised from royalties of the newly published
book 'Construction Safety Management and Engineering,' written by members
of ASSE and other leading experts in the construction safety field.
The new book serves as a construction safety tool and reference text for
safety practitioners, project engineers, workers and also students entering
the profession. Royalties from the book will support the new scholarship
for students pursuing a degree in occupational safety and health, with
an emphasis in construction.
ASSE Foundation Manager Mary Goranson said, "We are proud to have
the support of ASSE's members and the Construction Practice Specialty
in funding this new scholarship for construction safety students. This
scholarship will help reduce workplace hazards and accidents in the construction
industry, by supporting students; the next generation of safety professionals."
Chartered in 1990, the ASSE Foundation is committed to ensuring the future
of the occupational safety and health profession by providing financial
resources to individuals and organizations. Funding for the Foundation
