DAIMLERCHRYSLER CORPORATION REFRESHES ITS COMMITMENT TO
WORKPLACE SAFETY THROUGH DONATION TO ASSE FOUNDATION

DES PLAINES, IL (March 8, 2004) -- Reinforcing its commitment to research and education in the occupational safety, health and environmental field, the Michigan-based DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund today donated $25,000 to the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation.

ASSE Foundation Chair Karl Jacobson, said, "We applaud the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund for its longstanding support of the ASSE Foundation. This donation will aid students pursuing a degree in the occupational safety, health and environmental field, help foster accredited safety programs at colleges and universities, and also assist with expanding safety research to reduce workplace accidents. Thanks to the support of corporations and individuals, the ASSE Foundation can continue its mission of ensuring the future of the safety profession by providing financial resources to individuals and organizations."

Over the past five years, the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund has contributed $125,000 to the ASSE Foundation for occupational safety, health and environmental research, fellowships, college scholarships, and professional development.

The non-profit DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund was established in 1953 to help enrich the physical and cultural needs of communities and business environments. Its mission is to develop a skilled workforce, support responsive communities, encourage employee participation, and respond to public policy and marketplace issues. The DaimlerChrysler Corporation, a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler AG, employs more than 100,000 people in North America.

Chartered in 1990, the ASSE Foundation receives funding from corporations and voluntary donations from ASSE members - individual and through chapters countrywide for applied safety research, scholarships, fellowships, internships and professional development.
