OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY RESEARCH, EDUCATION PROGRAMS SUPPORTED BY
VIRGINIA SAFETY PROFESSIONALS
DES PLAINES, IL (October
15, 2003) -- Safety professionals throughout
Virginia recently donated $1,111 to the American Society of Safety Engineers
(ASSE) Foundation for college scholarships, internships, and research
grants geared toward occupational safety and health.
The
Richmond-based Colonial Virginia Chapter and the Norfolk-based Greater
Tidewater Chapter hosted a golf tournament this past summer to raise funds
for the ASSE Foundation. The golf tournament was held in conjunction with
the eighth annual Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Conference.
With nearly 500 members combined, the Colonial Virginia and Greater Tidewater
Chapters of ASSE are actively involved with the Virginia professional
safety community.
Chartered
in 1990, the ASSE Foundation is committed to ensuring the future of the
occupational safety and health profession by providing financial resources
to individuals and organizations. This year over $70,000 is available
from the Foundation for occupational safety, health and environmental
college scholarships, in addition to annual professional development and
research grants. Funding for the Foundation comes from corporations and
voluntary donations from ASSE members - individual and through chapters
