COLORADO RESIDENTS SUPPORT OCCUPATIONAL
SAFETY RESEARCH, EDUCATION
DES PLAINES, IL (June 18, 2003) --- Illustrating
their dedication to workplace safety and education, the American Society
of Safety Engineers' (ASSE) Colorado Chapter, based in Denver, recently
donated $1,810 to the ASSE Foundation.
The donation from the ASSE Colorado Chapter will help support the Foundation's
programs including college scholarships, professional development, and
research in the field of occupational safety, health and the environment.
Colorado Chapter Government Affairs Chair Bervin Hall of Parker, CO, lead
the effort in motivating members to donate to the Foundation. Colorado
Chapter members raised $905 from chapter meetings, and the chapter matched
this amount. The Colorado Chapter is hosting ASSE's annual Professional
Development Conference this June 22-25 at the Colorado Convention Center
in Denver.
ASSE Colorado Chapter president Daniel McClain of Littleton, CO, said,
"Our chapter is proud to support the ASSE Foundation in its mission
of advancing the safety and health profession through such efforts as
college safety scholarships and beneficial research to create a safer
workplace."
Chartered in 1990, the ASSE Foundation is committed to ensuring the future
of the occupational safety and health profession by providing financial
resources to individuals and organizations. This year the Foundation awarded
nearly $60,000 in annual scholarships to occupational safety, health and
environment college students. Funding for the Foundation comes from corporations
and voluntary donations from ASSE members - individual and through chapters
countrywide for applied safety research, scholarships, fellowships, internships
