Bechtel Group Continues Support of American Society of Safety Engineers Foundation With New Donation
|Des Plaines, IL (January 24, 2008) — In their continued support of occupational safety, health and environmental education, San Francisco-based Bechtel Group Foundation recently contributed $10,000 to the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation toward the Bechtel Group Foundation Scholarship for Safety & Health. In 2008, this funding will support three $3,000 scholarships open to undergraduate students pursuing environmental, health and safety degrees emphasizing construction safety.
“The ASSE Foundation appreciates the efforts of Bechtel in supporting future safety and health professionals in construction. By providing additional educational opportunities in this area we can continue to see increased safety and reduced risk on the job,” said ASSE Foundation Chair Cynthia L. Roth, COHN. “Bechtel’s efforts have helped the ASSE Foundation with its mission of advancing the safety and health profession through education, professional development and research.”
Scholarship applicants must be full-time students studying occupational safety and health with an emphasis on construction safety. Applicants must be student members of ASSE, have a GPA of 3.0 out of a 4.0 system, have a good academic standing, and be recommended by a safety faculty member. Priority will be given to students attending Murray State University in Murray, KY; Montana Tech in Butte, MT; and the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO.
