CNA Foundation Partners with ASSE Foundation by Funding Occupational Safety & Health Scholarships
Des Plaines, IL (April 20, 2007) — The CNA Foundation recently donated $10,000 to the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation to support a new scholarship program for students pursuing degrees in occupational safety, health and the environment. The CNA Foundation will support two scholarships at $4,000 each.
The recipients of the 2007 CNA Foundation Scholarship are Erin T. Gallagher and William D. Down. Gallagher is an undergraduate at Keene State College in Keene, NH studying safety studies. Downs is an undergraduate at Iowa State University in Ames, IA studying occupational safety and health.
ASSE Foundation Chair Kennith D. Brock, CSP, said, “CNA’s generous donation in aiding future safety practitioners illustrates the company’s commitment to workplace safety and health. CNA’s efforts will help the ASSE Foundation meet its mission of advancing the safety and health and environmental profession through advanced education.”
Scholarship applicants must be full-time students pursuing a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field. Applicants must be student members of ASSE, have a GPA of 3.0 out of a 4.0 system, have a good academic standing, and be recommended by a safety faculty member. Eligible students can submit their scholarship applications to the ASSE Foundation from September through December.
