Washington Group International's Continued Commitment to Safety and Health Provides Full Learning Experience for Student
|Des Plaines, IL (April 6, 2007) — The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation recently announced a continued partnership with Washington Group International, a leading engineering, construction and management solutions company based in Boise, Idaho. Washington Group recently donated $3,745 to support a safety scholarship program for 2007. In addition to the annual scholarship, the company will offer its scholarship recipient a summer internship and the opportunity to attend ASSE’s Safety 2007.
Billy W. McBride was recently selected as the 2007 Washington Group International Safety Scholarship recipient. Billy is an undergraduate studying industrial safety at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Ok. He will be presented with the award at the ASSE Safety 2007 Professional Development Conference (PDC) this June in Orlando, Fla.
ASSE Foundation Chair Kennith D. Brock, CSP, said, “The ASSE Foundation is proud to have the support of Washington Group International in providing a scholarship for a construction safety student and for raising the bar by providing Billy McBride with additional learning opportunities through a summer internship and a professional development conference experience.”

The ASSE Foundation/Washington Group International Safety Scholarship program annually awards a $3,500 scholarship to an undergraduate student pursuing a safety and health degree, with an emphasis on construction. Applicants must be an ASSE student member, have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 out of a 4.0, be currently enrolled in 12 or more semester hours and have completed at least 60 semester hours. Students can submit their application for scholarships to the ASSE Foundation from September through December each year.
