Bechtel Group Foundation Donates $10K Toward ASSE Foundation’s Scholarship Program
|Des Plaines, IL (October 29, 2009) — In continued support of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation, the Bechtel Group Foundation recently donated $10,000 to the Bechtel Group Foundation scholarship fund. In 2010, three $4,000 undergraduate scholarships for students pursuing degrees in occupational safety and health will be awarded from this fund.
Priority to receive the ‘Bechtel Group Foundation Scholarship for Safety & Health’ will be given to students studying safety and health with an emphasis in construction safety attending Murray State in Murray, KY, Montana Tech in Butte, MT, and Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA.
“We want to thank the Bechtel Group Foundation for their continued support of ASSE Foundation’s scholarship program,” said ASSE Foundation Chair Eddie Greer, CSP, OHST. “While many companies and organizations are cutting costs in this economy, we are grateful that Bechtel Group continues to place value on the education of future safety professionals and provides the necessary funding to make needed scholarships available to students.”
Students who apply for the ASSE Foundation 2010 scholarship program by December 1, 2009 will be considered for the Bechtel Group Foundation Scholarship for Safety & Health. Scholarship recipients will be announced on April 2010. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more per semester) and pursuing an undergraduate degree in occupational safety and health or a closely related field, preferably with an emphasis on construction safety.
