ASSE to Offer Safety Certificates in Key Global Markets
Park Ridge, Illinois –(Sept. 6, 2016) – The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), the longest standing occupational safety and health professional society in the world, is establishing opportunities for safety and health professionals around the world to earn the Society’s Global Safety Management and Risk Assessment certificates.
Beginning this fall, ASSE will launch a Train-the-Trainer (TTT) pilot program to prepare a select
ed group of safety professionals from across the world to become Global Authorized providers of ASSE’s highly regarded occupational safety, health and environment professional development programs.
Quickly growing global membership has encouraged ASSE to develop new opportunities for its members and other safety and health professionals to advance their professional capabilities. The TTT pilot program will allow ASSE to expand its extensive and well-respected portfolio of training and education, deliver additional value to members outside of the U. S., and provide additional means for professional networking.
“This pilot program is designed to respond to the needs of our members in strategic global markets,” said ASSE President Thomas Cecich. “We are committed to providing the best resources to safety professionals across the globe. Developing a network of local safety and health professionals to deliver our certificate programs in these markets is one of the steps towards expanding our global impact and, maybe more importantly, strengthening the profession’s capabilities worldwide.”
With the TTT program ASSE is responding to specific needs of global markets:
· Building the capacity of ASSE- authorized providers to offer quality training to occupational safety and health professionals across the globe
· Making training certificates backed by ASSE’s 105 years of training excellence accessible to international OSH professionals in their own regions and at the right market value
The TTT sessions consist of live training focused on expanding safety and health professionals’ capabilities in providing organizational leadership in safety and health management and risk assessment. Participants in the initial sessions are safety and health professionals from across the globes who were carefully chosen through a rigorous selection process for their potential, following this training, to become ASSE trainers. The initial participants include representatives from Ecuador, Egypt, India, Kuwait, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The TTT sessions in Kuwait have been organized with the support of the ASSE Kuwait Chapter.
Paul Esposito, an ASSE instructor with more than 34 years of industry experience, and ASSE Vice President, Global Regions Ashok Garlapati will lead TTT sessions on Risk Management and Global Safety Management (GSM), respectively. The GSM certificate program has been already approved as required qualification by major corporate companies in the GCC region.
“We are confident that the quality of the trainers as well as the content of the sessions will provide the attendees with the best tools to succeed in delivering effective training to OSH colleagues across the globe,” said Cecich. “As brand new ASSE Global Authorized Providers, participants will be able to deliver quality ASSE certificate programs in their local markets and help other professionals to make workplaces safer.”
